Fast Food Withdrawals?
So lately I have been trying to work out and eat healthy in order to lose some extra pounds.
The problem is, I'm pretty sure that I am addicted to fast food. When I lived in Illinois I ate fast food literally once a day at the least. My dad let me have his credit card for food so I would be either eating out or going on long shopping trips in the frozen food section of Wal-Mart. When I wasn't eating fast food I was eating some sort of processed chicken, bagel bites, pizza rolls, corn dogs, fries... Lots of bad stuff. When I moved to Washington I wasn't able to get fast food quite as often but my diet still consisted of the same frozen goods, other than the occasional salad I would have.
Ever since I've started my diet late at night I will get intense fast food cravings. I will even get mood swings or cry because I want it so much. I will either feel extremely hungry despite the fact that I have recently ate, or I will feel full but still not feel satisfied and continue to eat.
Tonight for dinner in just a matter of a few hours I ate a very heavy soup (half a cup of rice, a ripped up chicken breast, and chicken broth), a large helping of salad, as well as three cups of fruit. I know that doesn't sound like that much but if you see three cups of fruit on a plate, well, it's a pretty huge amount to be eating after the preceding foods. My stomach is tight like a drum but I still want to eat. It's pretty awful.
I don't know what to do but I can't afford to be eating such monstrous amounts of produce with it costing so much.. at this rate I will be spending more than $300.00 a month on produce alone, for just one person. That's almost half of what I make during an average month at the theater (I can make a ton more when we are busy hah). But seriously.. Should I mix in some frozen junk shit just to satisfy my cravings? It would also save money. But that seems to defeat the point of eating all healthy and whatnot. All I know is I need to find a solution, fast.

Have a fast food day, it's good when you're on a diet to mix up your foods anyway or your metabolism will get used to the healthy stuff and slow down.
ReplyDeleteTreat yourself on a Sunday or something to a massive take out, your metabolism will take care of it if you're being healthy the rest of the time and it won't add any extra weight, especially if you're excercising!

Should I mix some frozen foods (like chicken tenders, pizzas, etc.) into my diet as well? Like every other day or something
DeleteChiken tenders are not so bad! You can buy some with less calories like at Trader Joes or whatever store is close to you. Instead of frying you can grill them instead.
DeleteOops bit late on this reply! Chicken grilled is fine, but pizza is supppperrrr fattening, way more than like a Mcdonalds. It has ridiculously high saturated fat as well. I tend to get thin crust plain cheese pizza and just eat half and save the other half for another time if I'm craving one real bad.
DeleteFrozen foods like chicken bites and stuff and even chips arent really that bad at all if you avoid frying!
xx
You can make homemade pizzas too, all you'd need to buy is the premade crust, and whatever you want to go on the pizza, it'll satisfy the cravings and you get to eat healthy too. Home made pizzas have less grease on them than regular store bought ones. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso try making healthy smoothies with fruits, yogurt and Whey protein. It'll keep you healthy and will fill you up for a little bit :)
If you're trying to diet, try 5-6 small meals through out the day, instead of three large ones, that way you're not feeling as hungry through out the day, and it'll keep the cravings at bay.
Hope this helped :)
I think you should eat foods that require You to open it or work to get it like nuts and sunflower seeds theyre good for you and you probably won't eat as much? Just a suggestion when you aren't hungry but just wanna munch
ReplyDeleteYou can also try to look up thing that are healthy, but taste almost too good to be healthy, late at night I get the same cravings, and I like freak out about eating 4 hours before bedtime, and I'll eat these like weird delicious potato straws, and they're bigger than most chip bags, but are only like 160 cal. Also try eating salty crunchy things to satisfy your cravings.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should just have one meal a day of what you used to eat. If you just suddenly stop eating processed foods and eating out, you're always going to crave it. Wean yourself off of it. Once a week might work, but I'm worried that you'll still want to cheat on your diet for the other six days, you know?

ReplyDeleteLike Chelsea said, you need to eat something every three hours, approximately, this is very important on a diet too! Try to eat fruits at most part of meals, yogurt and bubble gum haha I think it will help to cut your craving of eating something else all the time (but don't overdo on bubble gum)
ReplyDeleteYou should just look into eating more organic or vegan foods :) vegan markets sell a variety of delicious foods that are not only filling, but good for you.
