So most of you guys know I have a chihuahua named Hiccup.
Who pisses on everything. Multiple times a day. In a carpet covered apartment that I had to pay a deposit on.
I'm literally at the end of my rope right now, I can't be washing my bed sheets every other day because she pisses on them. I don't want my fucking carpets to be ruined because she pisses all over them. I'm seriously over this, at this point she is just a nuisance. I can't trust her to be out of my sight because if she goes into the living room alone half the time I walk in there and she's shit in there.
I want to put her on Craigslist and find her a home with someone who has more patience than me. I have anger issues, a short temper, and zero patience. Jesse's upset with me because he likes her but he hasn't been the one paying deposits and he didn't pay for her either. I've had this conversation with him a billion times but I'm fucking serious now, this has gone way too far. We take her out frequently but that doesn't seem to matter.
I don't know if I'm being too harsh or something but honestly, having a dog should be an enjoyable experience for both myself and the dog. I'm not having a lot of fun here and I know the dog probably doesn't appreciate being locked up in her cage or scolded.
Jesse fucking hates me right now because of that damn dog. I don't understand how he can be upset with me in this situation. This dog is fucking up both my carpets and my relationship.
Get the pup a diaper. My friend has one. It looks pretty ridiculous, but at least Hiccup won't pee and shit everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather not have to clean piss and shit off her either...
DeleteWell, I'm guessing you don't want to just give up the dog. I'm sure there are other things you can do besides diapers. Like, training her, I guess. But until then, you're probably just going to have to deal with looking after her.
DeleteYou could try getting the puppy pee pads and put them somewhere and watch her and when she's starting to pee somewhere, get a spray bottle and spray her with water. And if she goes on the pee pad give her a treat
ReplyDeleteShe's almost two, I don't know how well she would catch on. I also don't really have a place to put a pee pad in this apartment, it's rather small.
DeleteWhat about a compromise?
ReplyDeletePut Hiccup up on craigslist and use the money you get from selling her to buy a new, well trained dog. Jesse will have a dog to love and you won't have to worry about cleaning up piss all the time.
Jesse said "If we get rid of her, no more dogs". I think he's using this to punish me or something because I would love nothing more than a well trained dog. He probably thinks I'm just trying to get rid of her to get a new dog but I'm just honestly fed up with cleaning piss.
DeleteWhat about giving Jesse the responsibly of Hiccup if he wants to keep her so much. Maybe if he noticed how much of a nuisance cleaning up her piss is, then he would see that giving up would be better.
ReplyDeleteI asked him about that and he didn't reply. Because I know he doesn't want to have to take care of her all on his own. Which is bullshit if he's getting mad at me for wanting to get rid of her. JLSKDFHOIFOHSD
DeleteIronic that "hiccup" is the main character from how to 'train' your dragon. Name her dragon so she may be trained, haha. But while training can be a pain and sometimes done in vain, when there is a mess, I suggest pouring hydrogen peroxide on it, soak it up, and place a towel and something heavy on it for a few hours so your carpets won't be ruined, smelly, or stained. Trust me I have a 8 year old dog who still has accidents. Make Jesse clean up all the messes! Haha best of luck! Xo
ReplyDeleteI will seriously have 4 towels on my carpet in different places every day. kill meeeeeeeeeeeeee
DeleteHave you taken her to the vet? If she's peeing so frequently maybe there's something wrong with her.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the fact that she's tiny so she has a small bladder. The people we bought her from said she was potty trained but when we got to her house to go pick her up she pissed everywhere and they were like "oh yeah she does this whenever she's excited" and I was like o__o i mean i guess it didn't matter to them because they had hard floors but literally except for the kitchen and bathroom all we have is carpeting
DeleteHouse breaking a Chihuahua takes a lot of patience! It's going to take even more because she is two already. I read that you take her out frequently, usually it needs to be every 20-30 mins. & you have to make sure she goes outside, even if you're out there for a bit. Then ofcourse, praise her. My mom has a chihuahua and she was constantly putting her on a pee pad & she eventually learned to go on that. Both of you need to be in this together with potty training her, it sucks but its worth it once their potty trained! We just recently got a pup and she would pee on the floor next to a pee pad and we started to make her sit next to where she pee'd, and made her watch us clean it. When we were cleaning it we would tell her no the whole time. Or you can lay the dog down and make her stay & firmly say no. After two times doing that, she stopped peeing on the floor! I know you don't have patience but if you want a puppy you're going to need it! Trust me. I wish best of luck to you! If you end up giving her away & you get a new one, i suggest a shelter! Dogs from shelters are more willing to listen because they are happy they have a home! We use to have one we rescued and she was the best! (:
ReplyDeleteYeah, I honestly am just at the end of my rope and don't have the patience nor the money to have these accidents continue :|
DeleteIf it's honestly really hard & taking a toll on your relationship & emptying your wallet, then, yes, you should find her a great home. Maybe you can even take her to a pet shop & see if they know of anyone or where you can take her to get adopted?
DeleteJesse's being so close minded about it all, and while your options for Hiccup are a bit drastic because of your short temper, it' not fair to you. But you wanted Hiccup, right? Maybe there's some sort of program in obedience schools that can help, or go to a vet and ask. If you really just wanna get rid of her, don't choose Craig's List. Cause anything could happen to her.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the money for obedience school and I know for a fact that it just has to do with her tiny size (she's only 4 pounds). I got her off Craigslist.. I wasn't going to give her to just anyone and i would be charging $150 for her and meet the family so I'm sure she would be okay.
DeleteThat sounds sucky, I'm sorry. I never had much luck with dogs, either they run away, get in an accident, or we just have to get rid of them. That's life. All dogs are different and sometimes it's just not a good fit for you, it happens. I really don't think it's harsh of you to think and feel the way you do right now. If you rehome Hiccup, you won't get another dog right away, but you'll have another one someday and maybe that's better so you have more time to pick out a puppy you and Jesse will both love. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree.
DeleteHow old is he?
ReplyDeleteis she spaid? if not it really does help a lot with small dogs. also, monitor when shes drinking, give her water only when she needs it and dont give too much, and let her out frequently. watching her water is a pain in the ass at first but it will eventually have an effect on the dog. i did this with my Chug (chihuahua pug) and it was a huge success
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem with my chihuahua until I got a cat. My dog started to pee in the litter box. :3 lol
